Movies on the Plaza – The Princess Bride

We’re bringing the big screen outdoors with the addition of Movies on the Plaza free outdoor movie series. The Princess Bride

Thursday evenings June 2 – July 28 (movies begin at dusk)

Providing family friendly events is a part of Northgate’s history as Durham’s local mall. Movie ratings for the series range from G to PG-13, all ages are welcome and parents are encouraged to check the ratings. The venue opens at 7:30pm allowing time for movie goers to grab some dinner or snacks from the Food Court or enjoy some beer or wine from Bull City Burger and Brewery, so come early and bring a blanket or chairs (none will be provided).

Popcorn and soda concessions will be available for purchase from our Movies on the Plaza partners atStadium 10 Theaters.

(In the event of rain, the movie will be moved to a theater inside Stadium 10 and seating will be on a first come first served basis)

  • we love pets too but ask you to please leave pets at home
  • beer and wine will be sold by Bull City Burger & Brewery please do not bring outside alcohol

Blues, Beer and Food return to The Plaza for the 3rd annual Blues on The Plaza concert series.

Bring a lawn chair and your dancing shoes and enjoy an evening outdoors with live music, food, beer and fun. The Blues on the Plaza music series are FREE Friday evening concerts featuring local area rocking Blues bands, April 29th – May 27th.

Beer and wine will be available for purchase from event sponsor Bull City Burger and Brewery. Each Friday night we welcome local food trucks and encourage you to support our vendors and Northgate Food Court merchants. (no coolers please)

The Blues on The Plaza series is a FREE live music series in partnership with the Triangle Blues Society to promote community and to help keep the blues alive in Durham, NC. We hope you’ll join us for the 3rd annual Blues on The Plaza.

Keeping Durham dirty with their danceable mash of blues, rock, zydeco, and American roots music, this five-piece, all-female band brings a party wherever they go. Clay Date Night – June

Grab your spouse or a friend and have a creative night out at the DAC Clay Studio. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with clay as the instructor introduces a variety of techniques. Each person will complete and paint a functional piece of pottery that will be glazed and fired by the instructor and available for pick up 2-3 weeks after the workshop. These workshops take place at the DAC Clay Studio located at Northgate Mall.

All Discovery Nook events are free and open to the public. Attendees may also visit the Durham County Library Destination Literacy Bookmobile on the Plaza to borrow or return library materials.

About the Discovery Nook – The Durham County Library partnership with Northgate offers kid-friendly, educational presentations two Saturdays per month featuring books, stories, drama, local authors, local museums and S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math).

Parent/Child Clay Workshops – Face Cups

Parent/Child Clay Workshops!

These workshops are a great way to get creative with your child. Each workshop will allow your child, with your assistance, to create their very own ceramic artwork. Take one, or take them all! Because the projects need to be fired, artwork will be available for pick up about two weeks after the workshop. These workshops take place at the DAC Clay Studio located at Northgate Mall. Face Cups

Create a cup using slabs or coils. Decorate your cup by making silly faces; eyes, nose, mouth. Once the face is complete, paint your project with colored clay paints. Each piece will be dipped in clear glaze and fired! The final piece will be a new food safe treasure for your kitchen.
