Durham Roots Farmers’ Market
Join the Durham Roots Farmers’ Market on May 20th at 10:30am when Bob from Dandies Farm demonstrates how to inoculate logs with shiitake mushroom spawn. He’ll show you the materials and tools required to make your own mushroom logs as well as how to take care of your logs so you can enjoy mushrooms in your own backyard.

At the market this week:
Architectural Trees -Canterbury bells, bouquets, hanging baskets, unusual coleus, container gardens, pepper starts, torenia, butterfly weed, ageratum, herbs, perennials(bee balm,catmint,lavender, phlox and agastache) and more.
Blue Whistler Farm – fresh Pasture raised Chicken, (wholes, breasts, thighs, drum sticks, wings) , whole Duck, Grass fed Rabbit, and pastured Pork (Bacon, Chops, and multiple kinds of sausages, brats and hotdogs)
Bull City Farm – grass-fed beef, Animal Welfare Approved Pasture raised Pork and Free range eggs
Chickpea Farm – come early — Brand-spanking-new potatoes (red and white), a couple of cabbages, kohlrabi, lettuce, kale, a bag of rhubarb chard, a few daikon radish, turnips, beets, and eggs
Dandies Farm – radish, turnips, small Fennel bulbs, Kohlrabi- great raw and makes the best slaw, spinach, Rainbow Chard, Kale, Summercrisp lettuce (bags & whole head), large heads of Simpson Elite lettuce, Sugar snaps, snow peas, Basil tops, Spearmint, Chives, Pac Choi, Arugula, Flower 4 packs (zinnia zahara, vinca cora mix, coleus wizard mix) & Veggie 4 packs (chives, basil, red cayenne)
Jubilee Farm – herb and tomato starts, bamboo and pepper jelly, eggs, fruit jellies, lettuce
Prodigal Farm – lovely artisan cheeses! Candide, Field of Creams, Hunkadora, Marinated Feta, Piedmont Provencal, Blue Chevrolait, and various flavors of fresh chevre – the makings of a lovely cheese assortment! Come on over, say hi to Jenny, and sample the lineup! We’ll also have pastured, Animal Welfare Approved cuts of goat meat.
